Recalling the Mumbai Dream - I

My stint in Mumbai is now about to come to an end. Looking back, how ever cliched it might sound it actually seems just yesterday that I had stepped foot into this "City of Dreams". As my plane landed at the Mumbai Airport overlooking the biggest slum in Asia (or so i had heard) I felt anxious and excited at the same time. This was the city I had seen in my coveted Bollywood movies- home to the many stars I was a die hard fan of once upon a time. This was the place where "The Essel World" was and I was actually here. The child, the movie buff and the fashioneista in me were all excited in stark contrast to the fresh engineering graduate who still had not made up her mind whether coming to NMIMS was the right decision. I had heard people say that this city makes you fall in love with itself. I had to wait and see how.

The first week I remember was so eventful that I honestly had no time to miss home (very surprising for a "mummas girl" and a "daddy's daughter"). The week had its ups and downs though. Experiencing hostel life for the first time, making new friends, sharing a hall with two girls and a 3BHK with 8, out bound training program, "introductory" sessions with the student council etc. was all fun but would have preferred all this in any season but "the" monsoons. Mumbai rains - had heard so much about them but till date haven't understood what the hue and cry is all about. Nevertheless, the week ended on a high with our team winning Rs 1100 in the Mumbai Darshan (made on the same lines as the Amazing race) even after taking the name too literally.
